Click on the Start Menu and Desktop panel of the Privacy Items Windows
tab to show the options for your Start Menu and Desktop items (as per screenshot
at right) and then choose the items you'd like to clean and wash by checking the
relevant checkboxes.
Empty Recycle Bin: When you
delete a file it is not deleted, merely moved into your Recycle Bin. Select
this option to delete and completely empty files from your recycle bin.
Document History: Deletes the
stored list of files that you have opened recently. (This is the list of files
shown when you click 'Documents' on the Windows Start Menu or 'My Recent Documents').
Find Files or Folders History:
"Find Files" is the list of recent searches that you have undertaken on your
computer. Check this item to purge the records of these searches.
Run History: Check to delete
the remembered (and traceable) list of programs and files you have started from
Windows' Start>Run menu.
Note: Run History will not be completely cleared until
you next restart your computer.
Find Computer History: Select
this option to clear the record of recent computers that you have searched for
on your computer.
Start Menu Click History: Every
time you open a program from the Start menu, the date and number of times you
have used it is stored in an encrypted database and displayed as a list of 'shortcuts'.
Check this option to eradicate the hidden database and the shortcut list (but
not the actual programs).
Start Menu Order History: Check
this option to clear the remembered Start Menu order history and force the menu
into alphabetical order.
Tip: Move (or hover) the mouse cursor over any privacy washing item
on the screen to get further information and a brief description of that item.
