Click on the Windows System panel of the Privacy Items Windows
tab to show the options for your Windows System items (as per screenshot at right)
and then choose the items you'd like to clean and wash by checking the relevant
checkboxes.
Clipboard contents: The Clipboard
is the area of Windows memory that stores the text, pictures and other items
that you transfer between applications with Windows Copy and Paste operations.
Select this option to clear all data from the Windows Clipboard.
Windows temporary folder: Check
this item to clean and wash the temporary files that are created in this folder
by various Windows applications.
System temporary folder: Select
this item to remove temporary files created and stored in the default system
folder as defined for your system.
MSDownload temporary folder:
Deletes the folder where Microsoft stores temporary files for Windows updates
and service packs.
Temporary Windows update files:
Deletes all the temporary files created during installation of Windows updates.
Windows paging/swap file: Clears
the Windows paging file (also sometimes called the swap file) that Windows uses
to store the overflow of programs and files that do not fit into memory.
Registry streams: Certain information
is 'remembered' by Windows when you make changes to the Windows Registry. Check
this item to delete the record, but not any of the registry changes themselves.
Note: For Advanced Users Only! Amending or deleting Registry information
may cause undesirable effects in the operation, layout and other characteristics
of your computer.
Registry streams MRU: Check
to clear the record of the most recently used Registry streams (see above).
Memory dump file: When Windows
encounters errors, certain system information is 'dumped' to a specific file
(memory.dmp). This information can sometimes be used by technical support personnel
to identify, troubleshoot and rectify the error. Generally it is of no use to
the vast majority of 'normal' computer users and can be safely deleted. Check
this box to delete this file.
Tip: Move (or hover) the mouse cursor over any privacy washing item
on the screen to get further information and a brief description of that item.
